Discover Chevrolet at Premier Autos of Dallas

Chevrolet has developed a reputation for performance, value, and durability. Chevrolet has also made those traits affordable, and that is why they are the world's fourth largest automotive brand. In North America, Chevrolet focuses on selling a wide variety of models, from their subcompact cars, to medium-duty trucks.

Chevrolet History

Chevrolet, or also known as Chevy, is an American automobile division of the manufacturer General Motors, or GM. Louis Chevrolet, and General Motors founder William C. Durant, started the Chevrolet company on November 3, 1911. Chevrolet would go on to compete with Henry Ford's Model T in 1919, and overtake Ford as the best-selling car in the United states by 1929.

In 1914, Chevrolet first used their "bowtie" logo on the H series models, and the L series models. Over time Chevrolet used several different styles of the logo, using gold for trucks, blue for passenger cars, and a red outline for cars with performance packages. Eventually, Chevrolet unified all vehicle models with the gold "bowtie" in 2004.

By 1919, Chevrolet had factories in six states, and one in Oshawa, Canada. For the 1918 model year, the company introduced the Series D, which was a V-8 powered model that was available in four-passenger, or five-passenger tourer models. Chevrolet introduced the Stovebolt in 1929, which had an overhead-valve inline six-cylinder, and gave Chevrolet a marketing advantage over Ford. Advertised in the United States as the cheapest six-cylinder on sale, was the 1993 Standard Six.

Chevrolet began to have a greater influence on the American automobile market in the 1950s and 60s. The Corvette was introduced in 1953, as a two-seater sports car with a fiberglass body. Then in 1957, the first fuel injected engine became an option for the Corvette and Chevrolet Bel Air passenger cars. During the 60s and 70s, Chevrolet's Impala became the United States best selling automobiles in history. The Impala was brought back into production in 2000 as a mid-sized front-wheel four door sedan, and was produced until 2020 as a larger full-size passenger car.

By launching new vehicles and improving existing lines, Chevrolet largely recovered throughout the economic downturn of 2007-2010. More fuel efficient cars and trucks were developed to compete with foregin automakers, so in 2010 Chevrolet began the production of the plug0in hybrid Chevrolet Volt. In 2016 the Volt line-up was ranked as the world's all-time top selling plug-in hybrid, and was the third-best selling plug-in electric car ever. Later into 2016, Chevy began the production of the Bolt EV, which was the first ever affordable mass market all-electric car with a range of over 200 miles in a single charge. The Bolt then went on to win several awards.

Chevrolet's 100th Anniversary

A dedicated channel; was created by Pandora Radio for Cheverolet's 100th anniversary, and played the top 100 songs mentioning the Chevy brand. Chevrolet celebrated the countdown to their anniversary by encouraging its customers to vote for their favorite Chevy cars and trucks, and tell their favorite Chevy stories. Indianapolis Motor Speedway arranged to have the grave of Arthur Chevrolet, the brother of Chevrolet co-founder, properly marked in honor of the 100th birthday of Chevrolet.

Reasons To Buy Used

A used vehicle can be a great deal if you're looking to save money and still have reliable transportation. Used models are often much cheaper than the new version because you don't have to pay for depreciation.

Another reason to buy used is that you can afford a higher-end model than what would fit into your budget if it were new. Choose the top trim level with all the bells and whistles at a price you can afford. Many used vehicles come with packages included in the price that would be additional if you were buying a brand-new model.

Your payments are often lower with a pre-owned model as well. If you have a tighter budget, buying a used car can allow you to drive a newer vehicle without spending as much on monthly payments.

Here at Premier Autos of Dallas, you'll find numerous options in our inventory to fit your needs. Many of our models are only a year or two old, which gives you the feeling of driving a new car without the new sticker price.
